Emily joined the staff of the Mystic & Noank Library in 1989. A throw-away kitten saved by a library patron, she found a home at the library among the books.
As a kitten she enjoyed riding the card catalog drawers, but that is now a memory. Now she enjoys riding the elevator, sharing her feline wiles with the patrons and adding to the relaxed, welcoming atmosphere of the library.
Her fame has spread beyond the local area. She appears in a video entitled "Puss in Books" by Gary Roma. She is also the topic of two books that are presently in search of publishers. She was featured on the front page of the New London Day and has enjoyed good press from the other local newspapers. Just recently, Em was included in the book "Library Cats Just Making a Living" by Buffy Panther McClellan. Emily is up on the Web at another site ... the Library Cat Map at www.ironfrog.com. Click on CT., Mystic & Noank Library and Emily, and, there she is in all her splendor.

A domestic tabby cat, Emily has been blessed with a wonderful home and life. Regretfully Emily died May 2, 2006 of kidney failure. She is buried on the library grounds beside the walk from the parking lot to the building. Buzzi Memorial made a beautiful marker for Emily with her name, dates and four paw prints walking across the stone. We also have a scrapbook of her life available on the main reference desk in the Library. Her many appearances in newspapers, magazines and books can be seen in the scrapbook.
She had a wonderful 17 years because of all the love and friendship that she received from all her admirers.
